TeleHandler Safety Guidelines.

backhoe loader

A tele-handler is similar to a large all-terrain forklift or loader, but with telescopic arms and three steering modes -- front-wheel steering, four-wheel steering, or side steering (crab steering). By using different attachments, your remote processor has the ability to lift, grab, mine or move material - it's incredibly versatile. To get more from your remoter, you need to be familiar with the security requirements of the remoter.

Before moving the machine, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, then all the way to the left. This recharges the hydraulic system. In addition to the inspection of the telehandler itself, a visual assessment of the surrounding environment is also required. Be aware of dangers, especially if you plan to load and unload.

*** Use handlers safely for different tasks

Before you start, make sure the telehandler has a visible load table that you can understand and clearly read the maximum lift height and weight, and the size of the machine is working correctly. If the Telehandler is a rental machine check there is a safety manual in the cab. This is a health and safety requirement for the leased machine. There may be specific information about the machine, such as: pre-start inspection, start procedure, operation, etc. Make sure you're familiar with the cab layout and controls, test the brakes and boom for smooth operation.

Before you start lifting the cargo, check that the attachments are securely locked and the cargo is securely balanced. If using a fork attachment, check that the fork is set at the correct width. Each Telehandler requires different Settings and attachments to lift the load, so make sure you follow the information in each load diagram to perform a safe lift. Do not exceed safe working limits. If stabilizers are installed, always lower the stabilizers and stabilize the machine before loading the extension arm.

*** Watch out for tall buildings, tree branches or power lines. (Power cables should be spaced at least 4 meters apart)

You should always keep in mind that anything that increases power is potentially dangerous when you're using a remote controller. Always keep the load as low as possible and lean back, but still high enough to prevent load collisions as you descend. (preferably 0.6-1.0 m above ground)

Finally, you need to pay attention to the safety of the remote driver. Make sure they wear their seat belts. If the remote robot starts to tip over or roll, remain seated until you are sure there is no risk of further movement of the machine.
